Greg Metcalf has been head men’s and women’s cross country and track coach at the University of Washington since 2002. On Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana, his women’s team won the Pre-Nationals "Blue" Race (there is also a "White" Race) with an astonishingly low score of 36 points; Villanova was a very distant second with 126. Freshmen Kendra Schaaf and Christine Babcock were third and fourth in the individual standings for the Washington Huskies, who now have the #1-rated women’s cross country squad in a college coaches’ poll.
