WILLIAMSBURG - The William and Mary men’s cross country team captured the title at the Colonial Inter-Regional Saturday afternoon, with junior Ben Massam (Chatham, N.J.) winning the event in a time of 24:57.2. The Tribe captured the title with a score of 32, seven points ahead of Michigan State. Tennessee finished in third place with a total of 71 points.
Junior Colin Leak (Chadds Ford, Pa.) finished right behind Massam in second place with a time of 25:04.1, while sophomore Patterson Wilhelm (Lynchburg, Va.) came in fourth with a time of 25:09.5. Junior Jon Grey (Lancaster, Pa.) had a nice run for the Tribe, finishing in 13th with a time of 25:32.1. Sophomore Tom Burke (Edina, Minn.) came in 15th for the Green and Gold with a time of 25:41.5. Classmate Skeeter Morris (Burkeville, Va.) finished in 21st, while junior Harry Miller (Portland, Ore.) rounded out the Tribe’s scoring effort, finishing in 29th.
Next up for the Tribe men’s cross country team will be the Pre-National Invitational and the Tribe Open on October 18. The team’s top runners will make the trip to Terre Haute, Indiana, while the rest of the squad will host the final home event of the fall.
