After cutting its men's swimming program in May, Arizona State University has reinstated the sport due to "financial support from various donors across the globe", according to the schools athletic director, Lisa Love.
The program was cut originally to cut costs and the inability to maintain a 22-sport varsity program. Wrestling and men's tennis were also discontinued at that time. The Arizona State team is a member of the Pacific-10 conference.
JMU had donors that would pay a great deal to help out(Phil Vasar country singer) the school sighted, no that money will have to go to all of the sports. IT ONLY DEPENDS IF THE SCHOOL'S BOV REALLY WANTS THE SPORTS THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. O yeah and ASU won a national title, take that away and what comes from that situation with there men's track team. It is all about money, and no one really cares. I will not get excited until we start seeing mens track programs coming back. Last Male All-Ame from JMU- you know who I am.

Actually the track teams would be one of the last of the non-revenue sports to be cut hence why it wasn't on the chopping block with the other teams. For one set of scholarship you get two different teams: indoor and outdoor. Not to mention that a lot of the x-country team gets their runners from the track team. X-country has their own set of scholarships they also get two seasons. In most cases x-country is just used as a training tool for distance runners unless it is what the athlete specializes in. So its almost like if they cut the track team they really would be losing three teams, indoor and outdoor track and x-country. So as the saying goes "money rules the world"
