Humble sprinter Tyson Gay ready to emerge as track's brightest star

In less than a year, America's fastest man went from being a shy also-ran to a sprinter mentioned in the same breath as the best ever.

Three world championship gold medals will do that.

Tyson Gay's ascent in 2007 was rapid indeed - and it threatened to turn him from an unassuming, laid-back guy into something else.

One day this spring, he wandered onto the practice field in Arlington, Texas, talking on his cell phone. His coach, Jon Drummond, had seen enough.

Now I like Tyson like the rest of America. We have been waiting for somone like him since Micheal Johnson and Carl Lewis. Does anyone know the history behind his coach Jon Drummond and HSI track club? Just asking........
