Journals : Carson Glad - University of Saint Thomas THE RUN DOWN

Monday: 8 flying 30's. Lifted weights.

Tuesday: 2 sets of 400's the hard way. Basically this workout is like running 10*40's with a very short break between each rep.

Wednesday: 8*200.

Thursday: 6*100 meter strides on the football field. After that we played team handball and lifted.

Friday: Water Pol!

Saturday: I hit the books.

Sunday: And yet another major homework day.

ROUND HERE

We started practice with coach this week. With the exception of the cross country and football guys we have a full squad practicing. It looks like we will be a slightly smaller team than last year, but we have a good number of quality guys who'll be able to score in the conference meet and could perform well nationally. Right now we have exactly 60 guys on the roster. Hopefully we can get 35 of those guys to score at indoor conference. Last year we had 32 different guys score so we'll see.

This week's workouts were pretty basic. Coach didn't want to scare all the new freshmen away with a monster hill workout or anything too difficult, so we did a lot of team building activities. We played team handball on Thursday. The teams were upper classman versus lower classman. Of course the upper classman dominated the handball battle, but the underclassman got their revenge on Friday when we played water polo. The young whippersnappers beat up on the old guys pretty handily.

After Thanksgiving we only have two more weeks of class left in the semester. Fortunately for me I don't have a single final exam to take. Unfortunately for me I have a whopping 7 papers due in the next 3 weeks!

LEADER OF THE PACK

The eighth installment of my Leader of the Pack Award goes to none other than Brian Welle. Brian is a freshman hurdler on the team and this was his first week of practice. He looked like a fish out of water when he did the team warm-up, but the kid held his own out on the track. Brain looked really good on Wednesday during that 200 workout. Keep up the good work kid!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
