ROUND HERE
Class has officially become the most boring thing I could possible do with
my time. As I sit there in class while the teacher is in the front of the
classroom lecturing about....I don't know...the importance of the
Pythagorean Theorem or some other useless knowledge...the only things really
running through my mind: running and moving. And then it all hits me like
a ton of bricks when I was at Shaggy's and Sox's 80's party on Saturday
after the meet......I need to quit my job because I'm moving to Indiana.
So, I told my boss on Monday that my last day of work will be June 15 and he
understood, but now I have to hire my replacement. So, if anyone knows a
good project coordinator you should send them my way.
THE MEET
This past week's meet was at the annual Meet of Saints held at St. John's
University. The meet was pretty low-key. Only the men's teams from MIAC
schools that have a patron saint named after the school are invite to the
meet. St. John's has an alright track (its not a mondo surface, but it gets
the job done). Sadly, despite the weather being prime track weather all
week (sunshine and in the 70's) it rained the day of the meet.
I ran the 4*100 and 400. The 4*1 went okay. I anchored which was sweet.
Our time wasn't anything to brag about, but at least we got the stick around
which was job number one. I got about a 20-minute break from the 4*1 race
and then had to hunker down into the blocks for the start of the 400. This
race wasn't pretty, but the result was decent for me. My first 200 was real
smooth. I came through the 200 mark in around 22.mid (about right). But
then I came through the 300 mark in about 35.low (which is slow), and in my
last 100 of the race I totally broke down. It was frustrating to break down
as bad as I did, but when the dust settled from the race I ended up running
nearly a second faster then last year's 400 opener. I hope I can just keep
that kind of progression up.
Next week the team is traveling down to Northfield, MN for the annual
Carlton Relays. It should be pretty exciting. See you all there.
LEADER OF THE PACK
This installment of my Leader of the Pack Award goes to none other than
fellow trackshark journaler Augustine Schmader. I forgot to mention the
fact that last week at Duke this man threw it down in the 100. It was
impressive. But more importantly, he gave new life to Shaggy and Sox.
BTW-are you going to run a duce anytime soon?
