ROUND HERE
Life is hectic as ever. I'm starting to get my first round of tests in all
my classes. Plus, work is picking up and (as everyone already knows) track
is entering into the championship part of the season. And I still have no
idea where Cargill is going to ship me off to yet. I hope I can stay close
to home. Otherwise, being relocated in Florida or Cali would be nice. This
Minnesota cold weather is getting old. Its time for some sunshine and
90-degree weather. I can't wait till the outdoor season starts.
Looking at my life, I think I got way too much stress and I'm making a lot
of things a bigger deal than they actually are. I really think all this
class, and work, and other bs is starting to affect my performance on the
track. I didn't quite run how I wanted to this weekend, but I still had a
very successful conference track meet.
THE MEET
This year's MIAC Conference track meet was at Concordia University in
Moorhead, MN. It was a nice and boring 3-½ hour bus ride up to Concordia.
Concordia has a flat 200-meter track with short, sharp turns that aren't
conducive to fast running at all.
At the meet I ran the 200, 400, and 4*400. I successfully defended my 200
title that I had won last year by winning in 22.06, and I won my second
career indoor 400 conference title. Our 4*400 team was pretty much gassed
after competing is so many races. PJ competed in 5 events before the relay
and Cassidy competed in 4. Not wanting to dig too far in the gas tank, we
comfortable won the race in 3:21.x. Not an overly great performance by no
means, but we got the 10 team points and that's all we were after.
This weekend we really came together as a team. It was impressive to see
our team compete so well. The UST men's track team made conference history
by setting a conference record for most consecutive team victories. It was
our 21 consecutive conference crown!
LEADER OF THE PACK
This week's installment of my Leader of the Pack Award goes to none other
than the entire UST men's and women's track teams. For the 6th consecutive
year, both the UST men's and women's track teams have swept the MIAC track
meet. With stellar team performances in the indoor season, big things are
expected to come from both teams in the outdoor season. Keep up the good
work everybody!
