THE RUN DOWN

Monday: Speed day. 10*50 meter in's and out's. Lifted.

Tuesday: 5*500's with a 1-minute recovery.

Wednesday: 6*300's with 3 minutes rest between reps. This was a pace-cut workout. Started at 46 and dropped to 42. Lifted weights and then sat in the hot tub.

Thursday: Recovery day. Biked for 15 minutes and did some lifting.

Friday: Race day.

Saturday: Took the day off. Watched a track meet at the University of Minnesota. My bro and me went to see his roommate Robb make his season debut in the 60. I also saw fellow Trackshark journaler Marques Johnson run well in the 60 and 200 too. Nice work.

Sunday: Warmed-up and cooled-down. I also did some homework and watched the Vikings vs. Eagles.

ROUND HERE

Not much is happening up here in Minnesota. That's mostly because the highest temperature it has been this last week was -3. These temperatures aren't really conducive of outdoor activities.

This J-Term class I have been taking is not really fun at all. It's a theater class, so we have to attend all these plays outside of class. The class is going to be an easy A, but I just don't like the time I have to spend outside of class going to all these productions. Boring. I'd rather spend the 3 hours I go to class each day looking for track results on the Internet.

THE MEET

Last week we hosted our Alumni Meet. It was a low-key meet. A lot of freshmen made their collegiate débuts. And a bunch of the alumni come back and laced it up against their former teammates. The alumni had a real strong showing. In a huge upset, the Alumni All-Stars outpaced the UST A Team for the crown in the 4*166 meter relay.

Next week the team will not be competing, but the vaulters will be traveling to Reno for the annual Pole Vault Summit. The rest of us left at home will be practicing. The team will not be competing again until January 29 at The Iowa State Open.

LEADER OF THE PACK

This installment of my Leader of the Pack Award goes to none other than Shanti Rainy, Andrew Hilliard, Justin Hall, and Roman Cress. These 4 gentlemen were the alumni who ran the impossible race and cruised to the victory in the 4*166 meter relay and gaining the respect of us youngins.
