"The Dream"

What's Going on World?

John W. Davis here. After toiling all summer and all fall, the NCAA XC meet in Terre Haute, Indiana is finally here. For many elite runners it's a dream fulfilled.

Meet freshman sensation German Fernandez of Oklahoma State University. His dream is to run in the 2012 London Olympics. To aid in making his dream a reality he has selected a mentor who he feels has all the right tools to get him there, OSU Head Coach Dave Smith. The funny thing is that their coach/athlete mentorship almost never took place.

German admits that the only reason he visited Oklahoma State in the first place was to use up all his official recruiting visits. But something clicked on that visit when he met Coach Smith and soon after, German was signed, sealed and delivered and off to Stillwater, Oklahoma.

On the night of Tuesday, November 18th, German had another type of dream. This one was about a race that will take place on November 24th in a grassy field in Indiana. German is no prophet, so he kept the major details to himself. German did make a confession saying "it was a good dream"¡¦

Get to know German and learn more about his mindset on this episode of the Trackshark Podcast only on Trackshark.com.
