Boaz clocked 27:46.47 in the 10k at Stanford on Friday night

Cardinal Invitational

There was plenty of distance highlights at the Cardinal Invitational held Friday night at Stanford. Jordan Desilets of Eastern Michigan ran a solid 8:30.59 to win the top section of the 3000 meter steeplechase. The time currently places him second behind Daniel Lincoln of Arkansas in the nation. Mate Nemeth of Memphis clocked 8:37.53 to finish as the second collegian overall.

Defending cross-country champion Jorge Torres of Colorado claimed the 5000 meters with his time of 13:24.56. Daniel Lincoln of Arkansas was the second collegian as he ran 13:37.31.

Eastern Michigan standout Boaz Cheboiywo ran a blazing 27:46.47 in the 10,000 meters to break the all-time Mid-American Conference record in the event and puts him in the drivers seat as the one to beat again at the NCAA Championships.

In women's action, Becky Lynn of Butler was the top collegian in the 800 meters with her time of 2:03.54. It was a close 1500 meters as Londa Bevins of Arkansas edged out Sara Gorton of Colorado, 4:15.35 to 4:15.48.

Texas Invitational

It was perfect conditions for all events in Austin at the Texas Invitational on Saturday. Men's action saw Rickey Harris of Florida run a season best time of 45.42 in the 400 meters to place as the top collegian. Teammate Moise Joseph won the 800 meters while coming through in 1:48.18.

Chris Pinnock of Texas A&M is moving into top form with his win in the 110 meter hurdles as he clocked 13.49 (2.1w). Jimmy Baxter of South Florida cleared 7-3 to tie for first in the high jump with former Texas standout Charles Austin.

Jason Ward of Texas used the wind (2.8w) to his advantage to help him leap over 26-feet in the long jump with his best mark of 26-01.50. In the javelin, Luke Marrs of Texas A&M was the top collegian with his throw of 236-00.

Women's action included freshman Sanya Richards of Texas take home the 400 meter title with her time of 51.73. It was a double-hurdle victory for teammate Raasin McIntosh as she claimed the 100 hurdles in 12.90 and the 400 hurdles in 56.46.

Defending NCAA indoor champion Lacy Janson of Florida State cleared 14-03.25 to win the pole vault.

Myerscough won the shot put and discus (NU SID office)

Ward Haylet Invitational

Nebraska was host to the Ward Haylet Invitational as Ineta Radevica of Nebraska won the long jump with her leap of 21-00.75. Chaytan Hill of Kansas State had a big mark in the triple jump with her 44-09.50 performance.

Becky Breisch of Nebraska threw 58-01 to win the shot put which puts her as one of the favorites for the title later this season. Leo Bookman of Kansas, after coming off spring football just a couple of weeks ago, won the 200 meters in 20.57.

It was a dual once again as Carl Myerscough of Nebraska edged out Christian Cantwell of Missouri in the shot put, 68-10.50 to 67-08, respectively. Myerscough then came back to win the discus with his mark of 202-11.

Drew Loftin of Colorado State came away big in the hammer throw with his mark of 227-05. Artur Wzselaki of Nebraska did the same in the javelin with his throw of 229-06.

Freshman Kyle Lancaster of Kansas State cleared 7-04.50 in the high jump to take the event.

Oregon Twilight

Several notable performances were met at the Oregon Twilight on Saturday night. In the Bill McChesney Jr. Memorial Twilight Mile, Nick Symmonds of Willamette took the title with his 4:03.85 performance. Adam Kriz of Oregon was the top collegian in the hammer throw with his mark of 213-11. In the women's hammer, Abbey Elsberry of Boise State had the top mark of 190-05.

Texas Tech Open

Lubbock, Texas was the site for the Texas Tech Open on Saturday. In the men's 200 meters Ryan Shields of Wayland Baptist clocked 20.51 to win the event. Jason Young of Texas Tech won the discus with his near 200-foot performance of 199-04.

LSU Tiger Twilight

It was a night of solid showings from several athletes at the Tiger Twilight hosted by LSU. Freshman Kelly Wille of LSU claimed the 200 meters with his season best time of 20.61. Lolo Jones of LSU was the winner in the 100 meter hurdles as she came through in 13.22. Lawrence WIllis of Ul-Lafayette earned the top mark in the triple jump with his leap of 53-11.25.

Lisa Aguilera ran 9:51.65 in the steeplechase (Alex Moore)

Arizona State Duals

Lisa Aguilera of Arizona State broke 10 minutes in the steeplechase with her 9:51.65 performance to win the event at the Arizona State duals.

UCLA Invitational

Warm weather and ideal conditions played for several outstanding performances at the UCLA Invitational. Lena Nilsson of UCLA won the 800 meters with her time of 2:05.30. The field events saw Cari Soong of UCLA take the top mark in the hammer throw of 204-07.

Another UCLA Bruin took home an individual title as Chelsea Johnson cleared 4.06 meters in the pole vault. Chaniqua Ross of UCLA won the discus with her mark of 182-10.

Iowa Twilight

Karl Erickson of Minnesota had a nice double at the Iowa Twilight as he claimed the discus (196-10) and shot put (62-03.25). Bill Nuemann took advantage of the home field as the Hawkeye won the javelin with his mark of 238-3.

Auburn Invitational

The men's 400 meter hurdlers stole the show at the Auburn Invitational as a pair of Tigers had solid showings in the event. Dean Griffiths of Auburn clocked 49.03 while teammate Fred Sharpe ran 49.23. Auburn also had fine performances from Sanjay Ayre in the 400 meters with his time of 45.80 and collegiate record holder Gabor Mate in the discus with his mark of 208-02.

Ole Miss Invitational

At the Ole Miss Invitational, Kendrick Triggs of Mississippi won the 200 meters in 20.57.
