Flanagan led North Carolina to the team title at the ACC Champs (TarHeelBlue.com)

ACC Championships

The Florida State men and North Carolina women came away with the team titles at the ACC Championships. Friday's action led off with Lacy Janson of Florida State capturing the pole vault title with her NCAA automatic clearance of 14-00. The height also improves her mark to third in the nation behind Niki McEwen of Oregon and Amy Linnen of Arizona. Freshman Chaunte Howard of Georgia Tech cleared 6 feet even to capture the high jump title. Another freshman, Garrett Johnson of Florida State, won the shot put with his provisional mark of 60-11.50. Laura Gerraughty of North Carolina had another huge throw in the shot put to place her mark as the favorite for the title with her toss of 57-09. The women's 5000 meters saw an automatic qualifier and five provisional marks. Kristin Price of NC State took home the title with her time of 16:09.80.

Saturday's action included Adam Shunk of North Carolina winning the high jump with his leap of 7-3. Freshman Jesse Williams of NC State also cleared 7-3, but finished second to Shunk due to more misses. After winning the shot put on Friday, Laura Gerraughty of North Carolina claimed the weight throw with her mark of 64-10. Teammate Shalane Flanagan claimed the mile run with her season best time of 4:38.25 which also met the automatic standard. Duke freshman Shannon Rowbury also met the auto standard in the event with her second place time of 4:42.45. Alice Schmidt of North Carolina improved on her performance in the 800 meters with her conference title time of 2:05.54. After winning the 5000 meters on Friday, Kristin Price of NC State came back to win the 3000 meters in 9:29.06.

Big East Championships

Mountain Pacific Championships

The Mountain Pacific Championships kicked off on Friday and concluded on Saturday at Boise State. Results from Friday saw Louis Luchini of Stanford taking the 3000 meter title while coming through in 8:12.21. UCLA took the top two spots in the men's shot put as Scott Wiegand took the title with his toss of 65-03.25 and teammate Dan Ames placed second with his mark of 64-08.75. Amy Linnen of Arizona won the pole vault with a new season's best vault of 14 feet, 5 inches to move her atop the NCAA best lists. Becky Holliday of Oregon placed second with her clearance of 14-01.75.

Saturday's results included Monique Henderson of UCLA winning the 200 meters in 23.72. Henderson ran 23.49 in the prelims on Friday. Teammate Lena Nilsson won the 800 meters with her time of 2:05.15 which currently ranks her second in the nation. Alicia Craig of Stanford won the 5000 meters with her season best and NCAA automatic time of 16:05.24. Teammate Lauren Fleshman came in a close second with her impressive time of 16:05.27. Jillian Camarena of Stanford won the shot put with her NCAA automatic mark of 55-06.50. Stephanie Brown of Cal-Poly SLO finished second, but also gained an automatic spot with her throw of 55-03. Laura Sauao of Cal State Northridge won the weigh throw with her toss of 63-08.25.

Atlantic 10 Championships

The LaSalle men and Richmond women took home the team titles Saturday at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Southern Conference Championships

The Appalachian State men and women swept the team titles at the Southern Conference Championships over the weekend.

American East Championships

The University at Albany men claimed their first ever American East Championship title.

MAAC Championships

The Manhattan College men's and women's track and field teams were crowned champions of the 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships for the seventh consecutive year. Senior Thomas Jacob Freeman broke the conference record he set last year in the weight throw with a first place finish of 21.33m.

Hoosier Hills Open

Indiana hosted the Hoosier Hills Open as the nationally ranked Florida women throwers made the trip up north. Karen Freberg improved on her shot put national mark with her toss of 16.73m. Gator teammate Erin Gilreath won the weight throw with her toss of 20.54m. Jukina Dickerson placed second in the weight as she threw 20.20m.

Idaho-Montana State Dual

McKay Womack of Idaho State had an NCAA provisional qualifying height in the pole vault with his clearance of 17-5. at the Idaho-Montana State Dual. Teammate Paul Litchfield has the best men's pole vault mark in the nation with an 18-0 1/2 set earlier this season.

LSU Twilight

The LSU Twilight took place on Friday night as several performances of note were made. Daniel Trosclair's meet-winning 17-6.50 clearance in the pole vault was a season-best effort for the LSU Tiger and ranks as the 10th best mark in the nation in the event this season. Mallory McDonald of LSU won the weight throw with her mark of 62-03.25.

DePauw Classic

It was another day of records for Jeremy Scott of Allegheny as he cleared cleared 18-07.50" in the pole vault at the DePauw Indoor Classic which also places him as the top collegiate regardless of division, #5 in the U.S. and #10 in the World.

Kansas State Open

The Wildcats held their open meet for a final tune up before the Big 12 Championships. Brad Teeple of Nebraska won the pole vault with his height of 17-05. Coby Cost of Kansas State won the weight throw with his toss of 68-06.50.

Silverston Invitational

Michigan hosted the Silverston Invitational as results for the men and women are available. Rachel Sturtz of Michigan won the 600 meters in a conference leading time of 1:32.90.

Ball State tri

The Ball State women held a tri meet on Friday night between Western Michigan and Miami (OH). Patricia Soman of Ball State continues to amaze the nation with her performance in the long and triple jumps. She is undefeated in long and triple jump competitions during this indoor season which also included improving upon her mark in the long jump with her mark of 21-01.50. Ball State won the three way match, finishing with a score of 106.5. Miami finished out with a score of 100, placing second over Western Michigan who finished with a score of 91.5.

Kent State Tune-up

The Golden Flashes held their annual tune-up meet before the conference championships. Keith Roberts of Kent State won the 55 meter hurdles in 7.28. Donielle Swany of Kent State claimed the weight throw with her toss of 60-11.50 and teammate LaShannon Foster scooted to a 24.12 clocking in the 200 meters.

Scarlet and Gray Invitational

Ohio State held the Scarlet and Gray Invitational as Buckeye thrower Dan Taylor was impressive once again. Taylor won both the shot put (66-03.25) and weight throw (71-09) which both met the automatic standard. Teammate Joel Brown won the 55 meter hurdles in 7.18. For the second week in a row, freshman John Russell has set a new Akron record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 17-0 3/4 to win the event.
