Damsels in Distress
Monday - Yeah... so I was definitely still sore from the last couple of days, so I did an easy 6 miles, and I'll be doing a workout workout tomorrow. Nothin much exciting happened today... so we'll see what happens tomorrow!
Mileage: 6 miles
Tuesday - haha... ok so I think I jinxed myself with my comment about nothing exciting happening. I decided to be a good athlete and run from my apartments to the practice fields (2.5 miles) then did my workout (10x 200m hill). Man the first 5 felt sooo terrible... I really didn't know if I could/would finish the workout. So in between the 5th and 6th one I took a nice long 3 min break before beginning my second set. On all of my second set I was 2-4 seconds faster than the first set. So I was heading back outta the woods... minding my own business... and I just happened to look behind me and see this girl just falling down the hill. So I stopped and asked if she was ok... and she just kept crying "ow, ow, ow". So I found out what group she was with and then ran off to find someone she knew. Luckily I didnt have to run too terribly far, and the friend and I ran back and then half carried her 3/4 of a mile outta the woods so we could get her to her car... whew. I'm just glad that I was around or else she would have been in a bigger world of hurt. After that I just took my sweet time and jogged back home... what a day!
Mileage: 7.5 miles
Wednesday - I was going to take this as my day off and just lift, but my roomie asked if i wanted to go on a nice easy run with her. Of course I said yes, I love runnin with roomie. We just went for an easy 12 minutes, then went to the weight room to toss some metal and plastic around. Its funny seein guys who arent used to girls lifting serious weights. This one guy asked us if we knew any lifts or exercises for booties... we answered after some laughing haha. It was fun though... and i was able to up my weights again just a little bit! Good times, good times.
Mileage: 1.5 miles hehe
Thursday - My shins were a little tender today, so I did my interval workout on the bike instead. Today was 2x6 min hard, 2 min rec, 2x4 min hard, 2 min rec, and then 2x2 min hard, 1 min rec. With a warm up and cool down of course. I was happy because I was able to get my heart rate up to 160 on the hard reps. Also, I am soooo excited because my coach sent me my new 8 week workout schedule... maaaaan I can't wait to start. Right now my program is a hybrid of what I've done in the past and our new program. I'll start on Monday next week, so the rest of the week I'm going to take some recovery runs and get ready for this new schedule... yeeeee
Mileage: 7.7 miles
Friday - Sunday: The rest of the week I've basically been doing some easy running because I know I'm going to start real "training" this upcoming week... wanted to give my body a little reprieve before the fun stuff begins! haha Looking forward to next week!

How does your new program differ from your old?
And by old do you mean what you did in college or what you did your first year post college?
good questions...

By old i mean kind of what i did in college and what i did post collegiately... because for the last 3 years I've been with the same coach doing kind of the same things.
Since I'm back down at sea level we're going to start doing some of the old traditional workouts ( 8x400 full recovery) with some hybrid type workouts ( 40 min run, with 3x200 upon return), and timed runs. So its kind of a blend of workouts, and we're doing them at a little higher frequency than we had before. Since my workouts in college were such high volume (4x1200, 2x800, 3x400, 2-4x200) we were only doing them once a week or so. Now I'll be doing harder workouts 3-4 times a week. Not at the beginning though, but as my body slowly adapts to these closer workouts.
Did that answer your questions? haha sorry it was so long!

Thanks for the answer. I have always tried to read your blog. So at times I get confused with what you are doing. Injuries, college, post college etc.
How fast will you start your 400's at and what is the rcovery. Also have you built a good base up already or are you going to combine your wo's and base at the same time.

haha sorry... I know sometimes what I'm doin is all over the place. But yeah I'm definitely post collegiate now, so far injury free.
my 200's after runs are gonna be full recovery (which for us is 400 m jog)
my 400's are only 2 min recovery... I'll probably do that jogging lightly so I dont get tight standing around waiting to go again :)
