Ok so goin into this race ...
Thursday - ran 2x4min hard, 3x200 at race pace (31 sec)
Friday - On the bike 40 min
Saturday - Pre-meet

Sunday was race day. I felt pretty good this morning. Was definitely unable to eat though haha. I tried to shove breakfast down my throat but only managed one egg and a 1/4 piece of toast haha. So fast forward to the race... first off tell me why I almost missed it! haha so the meet was like ten minutes behind but I was hangin out by the track waitin for them to call the 800 to the little tent. And like 5 min before my race was supposed to go off I was lookin around like... they really should have called us. So I jogged over and turns out I must have completely missed it. I had just enough time to throw on my spikes and head down the track. What a mess!

So the race... sigh... the race. Ok so i hit all my first 200 at 31... perfect. Hit the 800 at 62... even better... my 600 at 1:33... yeah finishing time was 2:08.06. So i'll let you figure out what our last 200 was. It was like my body hit the 150... and went into shock. I couldnt swing my arms... couldn't move to pass people. It was crazy. What made it even more crazy was that EVERYONE ran an extra slow last 200. Cuz the winning time was 2:05... and i know they came through faster than me at the 600 by a couple seconds. It was the weirdest thing.

I was kind of dissapointed in my time, but it is my starting point and I can really (and better) only go up from here. So I'm tryin not to take it so hard. My coach and I agree that my struggle with consistent training didnt help any, so I might sit out at Cal to get some more weeks in before I race again. We'll see though after we talk.

The best thing about the meet was all the people I got to meet. I met a few TS people who were just wonderful, a couple people who recognized me from this blog... all really nice and supportive, and even a couple people I met at various meets years ago. Anyways... its off to bed for me. Please don't judge my time too hard hahaha... did I mention it was breezy? hahaha

Good Opener

With all you have been through that is a good opener. Things could have been a lot worse, you stayed upright and ran strong. It's a long season ahead so stay focused on the true goal.

Good opener, I know what you mean when your body goes into shock lol. Hope you have more consistent workouts.

I saw your race and saw you from a distance at some point and meant to say hi but then I never got a chance to!

Anyway, I'm sure you aren't super jazzed by your time but nobodys time was that outstanding in that race for some reason. I think it's good that you started your race on the pace you wanted and now you just have to find a way to put an ending on it. It will come...

Keep working hard and give it time. I know time is running short, but i'm positive that your time will come down. You just have to be patient.

nice opener

nice race.. Im guessing this is your first race, so your body is just starting to get used to the "race pain" which is a little different from the "training pain". With time and patience, expect your next race to be 4-6secs faster. Just do what you have been doing, Im sure you are very fit. Stay motivated 100% and dont change your training. Just be confident.

Thank you

Thanks to all you guys for your words. I know i am an impatient person by nature... and one with uber high expectations. So i'm probably being harder on myself with this race than anyone else. And you're right... I forgot that race pain! Took my body by shock.. But i do expect that my time will (God willing) start droppin off with each race.

Again thank you guys!

2:08 thats a good start especially but being 3 secs of the win is the most important thing!
