Recent talk with Coach
So I finally broke down and talked to coach today... I admit I was
scared because I know that this season was a let down for coach as much
as it was for me. But after talking he made me feel alot better. I told
coach how I really needed just a mental and physical break for a minute
because I am am starting to feel burned out and overly frustrated. He
agreed, but disagreed with the amount of time I wanted to take off. I
was thinking about 6-7 months away from running, but he said probably
just a couple months... and then for about a year or so to just spend
an hour a day doing something with running that WOULDN'T feel like
training. So just going for easy runs, doing strides, speed sessions,
or if I wanted to tool around on the track and do some 200's or
something. But that way I wont completely loose any fitness I had. Then
he said at the end of a year, if I still have the passion to run to
pick it back up again and start really training and run some low key
local meets to be sure. This way, if I do decide to keep running (which
in all reality... I know I will) I wont have to start from scratch
having taken 7 months off completely. So this is my new plan. To give
my body its first real chance in over 6 years to recover from its
various injuries and ailments (as well as to hopefully figure out
what's goin on) and then run just for the fun of it.... what a novel
idea haha.
