Florida State and Tennessee should be the favorites for the men, by my calculations. Of course, the meet is not competed on paper.

I thought Walter Dix had an automatic time of 6.63 why was his name left off of the declaration list?

According to coach Bob Braman, here is the reason:

"Our long-range plan for Walt, when he decided to come back, was to use indoor to get him stronger for the long season ahead. So the 200m and 4x400 was always the plan unless he just exploded in the 60m at Iowa State. He was solid and won each race easily, but we simply stuck to the plan. He ran 45.8 on the 4x400 and he and Clark will lead a strong, and pretty fresh, relay team at Nationals. Also, Garvin moves up a spot in his absence, so perhaps we didn't leave a ton of points on the table.
We've often done this long-term approach that doesn't always favor us to maximize points indoors, but we make that plan early on without counting points or measuring the competition. We're usually better outdoors as a result."

Thanks for the update I wasn't sure what happened with him and why he was left off. To be honest that is a really smart way to appoach it with someone of his talent. It seem to me too many top end sprinters are one race guys these days. They pop off 6.5 high to 6.6 all day every day all indoor and wonder why they run 10.40-10.50. Granted there are exceptions but kids place too much focus on that one race and drive themselves crazy with stress.

Well good luck to all the athletes at national.
Remember to have fun...
