college bound athletes

So we begin the descent of the season, conference, last chance, and the big finale, the national championships.  With all of that in mind, we can’t help but think of what next year will be like.  Will we continue to become a better athletes?  Will we succumb to injuries?  Will our teams become stronger, or weaker?  Nothing is sure.  Nothing is set in stone, and nothing is impossible.
There are tons of kids taking the steps towards their careers in college.  Many will sign a letter on intent, and many more will walk on to a team across the country to see if they have what it takes.  So here is the scenario.  You’re offered a scholarship to join a great athletic program, but someone offers you a larger scholarship to decent athletic program.  What do you do?  The advice given to many students is to take the bigger one so that you don’t have to pay as much for college.  Is this right?  No.  Just for example, my cousin received a huge scholarship to the Michigan.  She wouldn’t have to lift her finger if she really wanted to.  However, she chose a college that gave her a more modest scholarship.  Why, because she knew that she would enjoy it more, then if she attended Michigan.  If you want to be a collegiate athlete, then make sure you choose the right place for you.  Don’t be stupid and sign with the school that gives you a bigger scholarship.  The bigger the scholarship doesn’t mean you are going to be the biggest winner.  Go to the school that will satisfy your goals as an athlete.
My advice to these kids, is make sure that this is what they want.  That becoming a college athlete is the right path.  Many of them will find out that their dream is not to be the national champ, but maybe to become the world’s best doctor, or the next Food Network chef.  Rest assured that everything that happens is meant to be.

ASC is the best Track and Field team in the country!!! They are so well rounded, and have points coming from everywhere. They are mostly Colorado, and New Mexico kids, with the occasional International athlete.....We love you ASC!!!

Alamosa aint the prettiest place, but if you want to be a successful T&F athlete and part of a successful team.........ASC is the best place!! They make EVERYONE better, even sucky kids! It doesnt matter if you are a jumper, distance, sprinter, or thrower....everyone seems to get a lot better. In Hindsight, I wish I would have gone there instead of a crappy DI school.
