What are the goals for a Collegiate Runner?
As a runner in high school. Anybody who is decent automatically thinks they deserve scholarship. When I ran in high school, it was because it gave a reason to not be at home bored. I wasn't that great of a runner, some may even think that wasn't even good. I only qualified to my State meet once. It was in the 4x800. Odd, since trained for the 300m hurdles. I was the lead leg and didn't run well at all. That's all in the past. I didn't even think of running at the college level till my high schoool coach (Hinkhouse) introduced me to my current coach (Wallin). In fact I remember seeing Coach Martin at the State meet, and he told me to come see him later. I just said ok. Then later laughed at the thought of me running in college. I never went to talk to Coach Martin. Thank God I probably would have ended up running the 800. I just want to clear the air with everyone. I didn't come to Adams to be my brother. I didn't join the team because I wanted to be a national champion, or an all-american. I have my own goals to accomplish here, and if I do earn an all-american or become a national champion along the way. Great, but that's not why I run. There is more to running track then everybody sees, or for most people, hear. I will continue to bleed green, and hopefully make a great recovery. That way when track starts next season, I can check those goals off my list. See you around. -The Other Lara Workouts Monday- 2x3 40m sprints, Lower Body Weights Tuesday- 8 200's, Upper Body Weights Wednesday- Off Thurdays- 30 min run on that crappy treadmil, Weights. Friday- not sure yet

Estevan, I don't know if this will mean much, but I've truly valued the time we've spent together here at ASC. I'm having a blast running with you.
It's for people like you that track should have been conceived. Yeah, I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far, but I'm more proud of and I'll remember better the endless 600m and fast 200m running with you and all the rest of the guys. For people like you, and I count myself in with that group, track is much more than the accolades, and I think because of that, track's a little sweeter and a little more special for us and for everyone else.
I'm damn proud to call myself your teammate.
