First Meet

First meet of the year was quite the Warm-up.  We all had a good meet. I didn’t see one person have a horrible day, but I did hear of one.  One of the competitors was injured while attempting to jump over a high jump mat and some spectators.  Either way, he should have had enough common sense to not take that chance in his senior season.  I sure am happy that it wasn’t one of my teammates.  So, I ran the 600, and it was pretty interesting.  I won my heat, but ended up 8^th overall.  The funny thing was that I’ve run a faster time in practice than I did at the meet.  The women were just kicking ass for their first meet of the season.  One of our girl’s qualified in 3 events to nationals, and another two of our girls sprinted their way to a qualification as well.  Two of our guys set qualifying marks in the throwing events as well, needless to say this season is going to very interesting.  Even though we run well against Western, I have to keep in mind that there is much tougher competition out there and keep working hard.  This weekend we host the ASC Early Bird Open.  I’m really excited to run our 4x400.  I used to hate running on it, but it grew on me.  This will be our last meet before Christmas break, and then it is time for us to shift gears.  So besides that, I hope my teammates and I can keep up the good work because we have a long way to go before nationals.
