Training 7/20-7/26

Sunday

8 miles (59:34). Really slow day for me. Just ran in the middle of the humidity and heat.
Monday

3 miles (21:22). Didnt really feel up to running too much today.
30 miles on bike. I think this was the reason why I didn't feel much into running. legs were tired.
Tuesday

9 miles (56:21). Ran with some of the top runners in the county. Josh McAlary(MiState), Brandon Hoffman (Western), Dan Styles (JCC), Ian Buckley (JCC) really just well rounded group of guys to run with.
Wednesday

8 miles (57:46). My legs could really feel the run from yesterday. Ran a decent run.
Thursday

8 miles (52:42). Again ran with the top guys but we kind of took it easy today.
18 miles on the bike. That was just my cool down for the run. Went to the hills by the college and worked them hard.
Friday

6 miles. (41:02). Ran right before work. Not a good choice, hot and humid. Relaxed.
Saturday

12 miles (81:34). For being a slower paced run, Dan and I tried to keep it controlled. But he complains about running slow. Oh well.

Total-52 miles.

Summary. Yea it is what it is. I'm one week away from cc camp and Im not even running 60 mi/wk. That being said I'm really hoping that I can really get a good run in this coming saturday at the Clark Lake 5k...my first 5k in over a year and a half. As long as I feel everything was left out there, I'll be happy. Wish me luck on my exams too. AHH!

Biking again. Training July 13-19

July 19, 2008 at 9:48 PM - 0 comments - post comment - link
Sunday-8 miles (54:29) with the early morning group at coaches house. Core, Plyos.
Monday-5 miles (34:56) my legs were still sore from last week, but not bad. Core, Plyos, Weights.
Tuesday-8 miles. (47:54) Ran with Brandon Hoffman, good run overall we really started to run well the last couple of miles. It was really hot out tho.
Wednesday-5 miles (37:34)
-15 hills on the hill next to my house. Core and plyos.
Thursday-45 minutes pool running. Not my favorite thing to do, but I do it for extra cardio.
-8 miles (56:45). Came across 4 at about 26 minutes just over, and I just died in the sun.
-20.1 miles biking. First time I rode since my crash a month ago. Felt really well.
Friday-Core and plyos and 10 miles on the bike nothing too special just took it easy today.
Saturday-13 miles bike. Rode to coaches house, and when I got there I forgot there was a road race out at Spring Arbor University today that everyone was going to. So I got in his car and went with.
             -3 mile w/up
             -2 miles (10:21)
-stopped and waited for my little brother and then we finished at about 21 minutes
-3 mile cool down with some of the top girl runners to come out of Jackson (Kelsey Devereaux, Kristina Olsen, Megan Freeland, Mindy Freeland, Beka Bentle, Hanna Olsen.)
-13 miles bike. I rode back in the rain not a very friendly environment. Wet and raining. Just like how I crashed...scary but alright.

Week Total-42. One really good 8 mile run. A struggle to run two miles hard. And a half way decent week of biking to get back. For being injured most of Spring and Summer and to do this right before camp, makes me a little happy.

Fresh....man?

July 11, 2008 at 7:48 PM - 1 comments - post comment - link
Well to start off, this is my first blog. Get to know me a little bit, my name is Josh Kinney. In the fall I am going to run for an up-start junior college program at Jackson Community College.(its 3rd year). In high school, I only ran my senior year. Finished 21st in the state in cross country and then 3rd in the mile. I wasnt heavily recruited due to my late arrival in high school running...so I went to a small upper peninsula school Lake Superior State University. After a rough semester with a close family dying, I came home and decided to go to JCC. And thats where I am now.

 PRs
 5000-15:23
 3200-9:45
 8000-26:45
 1600-4:19

My running schedule took a hit when I had my knee injury. So I'm just on the process of coming back right now. Really low mileage but for some reason I love to run hard non-stop. Hopefully when I get back on a team that kind of running will change to longer slower runs. That was the big thing I didn't have in high school was base mileage.
 Stay tuned!

     Kinney.
