E-8 Men Rankings - Week 5
Here are the rankings for Division I Men.
Here were some of the big movers:
- Andretti Bain of Oral Roberts moved from the 400 Hurdle list to 6th on the 400m list as we think he will choose to run the open quarter at NCAA's. (45.38 this weekend)
- Luke Gunn of Florida St moved from 6th to 2nd in the Steeple with his 8:38.33 weekend performance.
- Lee Emanuel is now ranked 2nd in the 1500m. Still alot going on in that event...
- Sean Quigley of La Salle is now ranked in the 5000m (2nd) as we think he will double at the NCAA meet.

Even thought I am a big fan of Walter Dix, I think some consideration needs to be made to remove him from the rankings or at least move him down til it is for sure that he is going to continue to compete as a Seminole. Other athletes have been removed from the rankings who havent \"done\" much so far this outdoor season.

I agree with the previous post. Dix hasn't run faster than 10.41 this outdoor season, and as far as I can tell, this is the only race outdoor that he competed for the Seminoles. Granted if he is healthy and competing for FSU, he will probably be the man to beat. But he didn't run at the ACC championships and I think he needs to be dropped from the rankings until he proves that he is still the runner that he was last year and is still competing at the collegeiate level.

I assume those comments refer to Dix's injury at the Seminole Invitational this weekend, and I agree. Track & Field News' eTrack Newsletter reports: "pulled hamstring, could be out for up to a month."
And by the way …

Does anyone but me think it's strange that Florida State hosts an invitational on the same day as its conference championship? That's why Dix didn't compete for them at ACC.
Dix
I can agree with the posts about Walter Dix. We took quite a bit of time considering pulling him this week but still feel that he can be that good by the time NCAA's comes around. We are definitely keeping an eye on him and may eventually have to drop him or pull him out completely.
