I'm a graduate of both Livingstone College (Salisbury, NC) and Howard University (Washington, DC). I have two sons: Michael (age 20) and Marqus (age 13). My involvement in track & field started as an age-group athlete and progressed to the high school level. Unfortunately, my college didn't support track like it should and my involvement as an athlete ended at that point. The 1996 Olympics in Atlanta rekindled my interest in track & field and I got certified as an official with USA Track & Field (USATF). Twelve years later, I'm still going strong as my officiating experiences have afforded me the opportunity to work a variety of competitions at various levels throughout the country. I want to offer my insight from the "behind the scenes" as most people are unaware of what actually takes place on the field of play. Sure folks see the athletes run, jump, and throw to the best of their ability; but it's the job of people like me to insure the fans can see the best efforts put on by the athletes they're watching.
