Penn Relays Is Coming

April 21, 2008 at 4:32 PM - 4 comments - link

Hey everyone...Your probably thinking I've been missing action.  I had to focus........you know  I had to get my mind right.

I kinda wish I ran indoors sometimes, because I feel at a disadvantage when it comes to running at various meets.  I ran my second meet this past weekend at Morgan State.  It was a great day for a meet in my opinion.  I ran the 4x100 and the open 200m..  To start the day off I ran the second leg on the 4x100m.  It would of been a great race, but as I handed off to the third leg I stepped on his heal and he fell.  The winning time was 40.3 fat from Hampton University.  Looking at the video tape...It seemed like I was rolling and we had a slight lead heading into the third exchange.  That was the first time we all ran together and we're gonna practice Tuesday for Penns.

I also ran the open 200m, but my start was horrible.  "What is up with my starts?.  I mean gun goes off and I pop straight up and then stumble.  What is up with that?  And the lane I had wasn't the best either.  I ended up second overall, but the time was a time I ran in high school.  21.84.  I know I can't dwell to much on the time because I did run faster then I did three weeks ago, plus it's only my second meet.  I just feel a behind right now.  To recap the race...The pros of the race is that I didn't tighten up at the end, the cons were...horrible start and I felt as I didn't transistion to another gear when coming off the curve.  I talked to Nigel after the meet he said not to worry about it because it was obvious my head wasn't in the race.

I gotta get it together.  Times will fall naturually.

Penn Relays is this week and I'm headed up there Thursday night.  I can't wait to run, but I'm more excited to see Meade run the 4x400m.  Fingercrossed, where trying to make championship of american for high schools.  I'm also looking forward to see my alumni...DSU.....they ran 3:08 this past weekend, and they didn't even have there A squad.  Good gracious.  Well I hope to see everyone at Penns.

Keep training hard and never doubt yourself.

dont forget to use your arms when coming out the blocks. it helps you legs to cycle. raise your butt in the blocks also. hopefully that works.

Good luck!

Good luck at Penns... I'm sure you'll just continue to improve... once you get those little things (like starts) ironed out, you'll be good!
