Explanation Please?????

Welcome to another wonderful journal entry.   I hope we all are having a wonderful week.

To start this blog off I need some questions answered

1.  How is it possible that Jeremy Wariner can come through his 300m at 30 seconds and come back 13 seconds for his last 100m?  That's so unreal, I couldn't imagine coming through that fast at the 300m.

2.  Did anyone see a 17/18 year old kid run 10.17 in the 100 meters.  What are these kids eating...Because I def. need that?

Well this week is going by fast and yes I'm still having hard workouts everyday of the week.  This past weekend Justin Murdock (The kid that runs for the team I coach) this kid ran 21.27 in his open 200 and he led off a 46.83 for the 4x400m.  It's funny I ask him everyday...How do you feel? and he says tired...So thats good we both feel the same exact way at practice.

My phone has been ringing off the hook and text messages are hour after hour literally...Everyone wants to know if I'm running at Penns...Yes I am.  The 4x100 (second leg) and the 4x400...No clue what leg yet.

Got to the track and I was beat...The area behind my left knee is still killling me...I assume it's a damaged tendon or ligament.  But I'm mangaging. Today's was one of my favorites workouts.  We had repeat 1 minute runs.  We did a total of 6 of them with 30 second walk in between.   Afterwards we had 6x150m build ups.  My legs felt like bricks by the time I got to them.  I tried to explode down the track but had no luck. After the 150's I explained to Nigel that I didn't feel explosive when running.  He had me do 10 sets of 5 double leg hops over the hurdles.

The guys had a track meet today so Nigel had me doing 10 hills today.  I had to run up this high hill and walk back down to the bottom and start again.  It was a good 48 degrees outside and by the time I was finished I was sweating like a boxer in the 12th round.  Since I was at a track meet I did my cool down on a baseball field...I ran around that field 4 times and I swear that a baseball field is longer then a 400m track.

Before I got to practice I knew it was going to be a challenging day....And when I got to practice, Nigel said....you can't put this workout on trackshark...He said there were a number of coaches coming up to him at meets asking him questions about his workouts.  Only because I like him I won't tell you guys and girls the workout...Well....... I will tell you what we did, but not how we ran it.  Just know that this was the hardest workout we've done this year.  We had 3x450 with full recovery ten minutes to be exact. Afterwards we headed over to the soccer field and did drills on the grass with no shoes.  We had 5x50m high knees, 5x50m sprints.  We did two sets of these.  It was weird running the 50m sprints with no shoes...My feet wouldn't grip anything.  Afterwards we had a one mile cool down and our ab circuits.

Thanks for reading another blog.. Feel free to leave a comment.

ATR

I think ,maybe im wrong, uses ATR form of periodization... Adaptation Trasnformation and Regeneration.... Thats why your doing so many things after hard repetitions... u guys are in transformation phase.

Maybe im just overthinking it. But its kind cool the form of art your coach brings.

How were the 450 broken down or what were the times. Keep it up, it will pay off.

450m Workout

That 450m workout were broken down and each one we had to hit a seperate time at each 100m mark, plus they were timed. Nigel calls it his bread and butter workout, that's why he didn't want me to explain what the workout consisted off. The workout was very difficult, but I'm sure it will pay of in upcoming competitions.
