Gearing Up

March 25, 2008 at 4:50 PM - 10 comments - link

Well whether we like it or not. Outdoors is here......  And of course the question that we need to ask ourselves is.......Are we ready??  Well of course you feel ready, but you won't know anything until that guns goes off and you pass that line in either 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th

Well I'm gonna find out where I am this Saturday.  I'm running my first outdoor meet at my alma mater.  Am I nervous????  Well not yet..... Maybe when I'm on the starting line....for some reason I always second guess myself there...why I have no clue....  I guess it's because whenever I went into a race over confident I ended losing.....  This all started in college...I never once doubted myself in high school..... even when I ran at indoor Nationals in 1999, I felt unbeatable.

Anyone that has ever ran with me knows this qoute "Alright guys don't beat me to bad...I'm aiming for fifth place"  I think I say this to try to ease the tension at the starting line.  I wanna get that drive back that I had in high school, when I knew I couldn't lose a race no matter who I ran against.  (I guess it's a reaction from a devistating defeat)

Saturday is more of a speed day for me. I'm doing the 100m, 200m and hopefully a 4x400 if my body can withstand the drastic speed from the earlier events..  I finally got my schedule for outdoors from Puerto Rico, so I know when I'm aiming to peak.

Nigel and I are still looking for a good place and a good date to open up at the 400m.

Well I'm hoping for good weather this weekend, although the weather wasn't the best this past weekend.  I saw some of the times and I was like whoa...Is everyone running into a headwind.

Good luck to everyone competing this weekend.

Thanks for your time.

I think that as we race more and more, we begin to lose the excitement of competition. I hope you get in a blazing fast heat. Run hard, and chase them down!

Good luck...

Running For Puerto Rico

12:49 AM, March 27, 2008 .. Posted by joshwyn
I met a coach years ago when I ran 46 for the first time in North Carolina. Somehow he found out that I was puerto rican and asked if I was interested in running for them. From what I understand..... at least one of your parents had to be born in puerto rico for example you can't be someone who is puerto rican and both parents were born in new york.

This is what I can do for you if your serious....Email me your best times/marks, and your full name and contact info and I will definatley forward your info to the coaches How bout that? My email address is joshwynabrams@hotmail.com

You should include when and where those marks were done. So the verification process can begin.

Also you gotta say Arroz con Habichuelas and cook some of it. Just messing wit u.

LOL
