Schultz and Baxter win NAIA titles
Heading into finals, Greg Schultz (Concordia) sat in third place. Scott VanCura (Hasting) held the lead after throwing a personal best in the second round. National leader Eric Flores (Black Hills State) sat in second place. However, Schultz threw a personal best in the fourth round to take the lead and held on to it for the remainder of the competition. In the fifth round, Schultz improved to a new best of 63.21m (207-04).
Aubrey Baxter (Black Hills State) won the women's competition by an impressive margin of over twenty feet. In the process, Baxter also set a new meet record of 60.57m (198-09), just more than one foot shy of her personal best set earlier this season.
