NCAA Women's Weight Rankings Vol. 6: Final Predictions
The last chance results from this past weekend didn't really rock the boat. As a result, I'm keeping my rankings the same this week. Obviously, Brittany Riley (Southern Illinois) is the logical choice for first. Barring catastrophe, she should win this weekend. Veronica Jatsek (Ohio State) only has one loss this season, but that was nearly two months ago and she has been consistently improving against tough competition ever since.
Loren Groves (Kansas State) has thrown far, but has also been far from consistent. She can compete with the best when she's throwing well, but she's had two meets under 20 meters this season and that is why I gave Jatsek an edge. Stevi Large (Akron) has been throwing well this season, but hasn't faced the tough competition others have. As far as the remaining athletes, it is anyone's game. All enter with similar personal bests. Sarah Stevens (Arizona State), Jessica Pressley (Arizona State), and Laci Heller (Kansas State) definitely enter the competition with more big meet experience, but that is not always the deciding factor. It should be an exciting competition to watch.
