Results for the Weekend of 2/09/08

In his second performance of the season, Egor Agafonov reasserted himself with a season best throw of 22.13m (72-07.25) at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.  With that throw, Agafonov easily outdistanced freshman sensation Walter Henning of North Carolina and produced the further mark in the NCAA so far this season.  Out west, two other throws had significant improvements.   Simon Wardhaugh of Boise State had the second best throw of the weekend by becoming the fifth thrower this season to break 70 feet.  Jason Lewis also produced his second personal best in two weeks to move up the national list.

On the women's side, many of the top throwers took the weekend off.  Brittany Riley continue to launch bombs; this time at the McDonald's InvitationalVeronica Jatsek also continued her consistent season.  Jessica Pressley of Arizona State became the latest thrower to near the 70 foot barrier.  Pressley threw 21.06m (69-01.25) to win the Bronco Invitational in Idaho.  While Pressley threw 21.39m two years ago, she only manages 20.30m last season and placed 16th at the NCAA Championships.  It looks like she has found her form again.
