Jenny Dahlgren finished off a great career with an NCAA Championship on Friday. Dahlgren lead from start to finish, launching a throw of 69.53m on her first throw and improving to a meet record 70.72m on her final attempt. Dahlgren finishes her career as the NCAA record holder in the hammer throw. She also has won three NCAA titles (2007 and 2006 outdoors, 2006 indoors), and has had eight top-three finishes (four outdoors and four indoors).
Among the rest of the competitors, there was relatively little change in position throughout the competition. Brittany Riley sat in second most of the competition, while Eva Orban held onto third. Sarah Stevens did move into fourth with her fifth round improvement of 65.75m. Britney Henry was quite consistent, but finished a disappointing fifth.
