Knocking off the rust

January 14, 2008 at 7:23 PM - 3 comments - link

Well after I got hurt last April running the 200m against Mr. Spearmon, I lost alot of training time and fitness. Me and my dude J-Lew got a saying "only two things can happen in a race like this, either we gonna run really fast or someone is about to get hurt running really fast". Well guess who got hurt? I manage to run 20.99 late in the summer like at the end of July overseas at a small meet. I was ready to really do something big last season before that injury hit, oh well things happen for a reason. I played it safe this summer after I came back and didn't do much other than lift...and lift...and lift some more! I started my training later than usual just so I could heal up and not have any lingering aches and pains once I start to go full speed ahead.

Moving along, I had my first race in which I had minor brain lapse, not to mention, I wasn't really feeling the track surface as it was like running on cotton candy. Anyway, I though we had two rounds and so I took my opening race (so I though it was a opening round) and only ran like 6.79 or something like that, then come to find out, there was only two heats and no finals...WHAT???? So I ended getting second overall, which doesn't bother me, but what was most important is that I knocked the rust off and got my first race jitters out the way. I usually open up in my first race which is usually a prelim race around 6.7 high to 6.80, and then when the finals comes around, I drop something nasty like 6.6 something, so I will be ready for my next meet which will be up in Flagstaff, AZ....And I'm not gonna be in a good mood niether, so that means TROUBLE...lol

As for practice today, it was a easy day, nothing to exciting to write about. It was nice out, so we took advantage of the weather....never thought I would see the day that I thought 48 degrees was a nice day for sprinters to be outside..lol

Words to Shantia, remember what we spoke about girl. All you see in front of you is the finish line all you can worry about is the lane you are in. You control your own fate, no one else but you. I got your back Coco..lol

Ms. Glenn, so are we gonna be friends, or am I gonna get the stink face treatment from you again? lol...but I wish you all the luck in the world this season, you got yourself another fan that will be rooting for you this year....and you better be rooting for me too! lol

Ok first I tried to log in so I will not be anonymous but couldnt figure out how to not be anonymous and log in. So with that information and lack of technology knowledge that I seem to have, you should know who this is. Haha!!!

I think you will do great this season. You have been working hard and hardwork definitely pays off. As the saying goes "The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure." So never think that you will do bad because that alone will set you up for failure. You will do well as long as your mind and heart is into what you are doing.

Oh and how are you going to be "mad" before you even get to your meet this weekend?

i really have no idea what you're talking about, i am one of the friendliest people on this planet. unless you whistle at me... call me boo... grab my arm as i walk by...you get my point. :)

anyway...flagstaff is probably my favorite place to run the 60. anything longer than that is death because you can't breathe, but you can get thru the 60 just fine. so good luck!

Good Luck
